NO candidate is on the Democratic primary ballot for State Rep in House District 20.
Write-in candidates MUST file paperwork with the appropriate election authorities by 1/15. WILLIAM HALLIHAN is the only one who did so for BOTH election authorities, meaning ONLY write-in votes for "William Hallihan" will be counted regardless of where the vote is cast in the district. He is also the only one who filed by 1/8/26, which forced the election authorities to even put this office on the ballot.
As our state representative of House District 20, the Republican incumbent, career politician & son of a career politician, Brad Stephens, HAS BEEN EATING ALL OUR LUNCHES FOR 7 YEARS, let's not make it 8!
The incumbent's role as our state representative in Springfield is in direct conflict with his dual-role as mayor of Rosemont, aka "Corruption Junction," which (even ignoring the nepotism, no-bid contracts, and alleged corruption) results in a major conflict of interest. As mayor of Corruption Junction, the incumbent presides over decisions that benefit Rosemont, to the detriment of others in House District 20, often resulting in 23 to 35 year-long stealth property tax increases on the residents of House District 20. House District 20 CANNOT AFFORD another term of this incumbent.
The incumbent is out-of-touch with the people of House District 20 & is also widely reported to be surrounded by clouds of corruption & nepotism, like a weird version of the character Pigpen from vintage Peanuts comic strips & Charlie Brown cartoon specials.
I felt called to file as a write-in candidate because NO ONE FILED PETITIONS to challenge the Republican incumbent, meaning he would run unopposed a THIRD time. I am sick & tired of (and outright angry with) politicians that line the pockets of themselves & their families, instead of doing their very best to represent the people they are hired to represent. I've NEVER been afraid to speak up to right wrongs, even when I believed I would likely get fired and I've been luck enough (or perhaps good enough) that I never got fired for doing so.
For the March 17, 2026 primary election, please request a Democratic primary ballot and kindly write in my legal name "William Hallihan," to tell Brad that we are tired of him eating our lunch and, come November, we are going to hold the mayo(r) and send him back to Corruption Junction.
